How to connect your toy to Beat Saber with Butt Saber
Butt Saber is a free Beat Saber mod that triggers toy responses on note hits. Setup with ToyControl in five minutes.
The Game Haptics Router routes the rumble signal sent to Windows gamepads, and Beat Saber is played with VR motion controllers rather than a gamepad, so the GHR path does not apply here. Instead, the community wrote Butt Saber, a Beat Saber mod that listens to in-game note events and forwards them to a Buttplug.io server.
ToyControl is a Buttplug.io server. Butt Saber connects to ToyControl directly through the Intiface bridge.
What you need
- Beat Saber installed (PCVR or Quest via PCVR streaming).
- BSIPA (Beat Saber Modding Group's mod framework).
- Butt Saber.
- A toy paired with ToyControl in your browser.
- The ToyControl helper app running.
- The Intiface bridge turned on in ToyControl's Game Link tab. Quit Intiface Central first if you have it installed; the two cannot share the port.
Step 1: Install BSIPA
Use a Beat Saber mod manager like ModAssistant. It installs BSIPA automatically and gives you a one-click installer for additional mods.

Step 2: Install Butt Saber
In ModAssistant, search for Butt Saber and check it. Click Install.
Or manually: drop the Butt Saber .dll into Beat Saber/Plugins/.
Step 3: Configure Butt Saber
Launch Beat Saber once. Close it. Open the Butt Saber config (usually UserData/ButtSaber.json).
Set the Buttplug server URL to ToyControl's Intiface bridge URL. The helper app shows the address.
Step 4: Play
Launch Beat Saber. Butt Saber loads through BSIPA, connects to ToyControl, and starts mapping events:
- Hitting a note fires a short intensity burst.
- Hitting a bomb (mistake) can trigger a stronger response (configurable).
- Missing a note does the opposite (configurable).
- Combo levels can modulate intensity.
The exact mapping depends on your Butt Saber version and config.
Tuning the feel
Beat Saber maps actions densely. A fast song can fire dozens of events per minute, so default settings can be overwhelming.
In ToyControl's bottom bar:
- Multiplier at 0.4x is a sensible starting point.
- Speed range max at 60.
- Per-device intensity for fine-tuning.
In Butt Saber's config, you can also adjust per-event intensity for misses vs hits vs bombs.
Troubleshooting
Beat Saber crashes on launch
- Make sure your Butt Saber version matches your Beat Saber game version. Beat Saber updates frequently and breaks plugins.
- Try launching with only Butt Saber enabled to isolate the issue.
Plugin loads but no toy response
- Confirm the helper app is running.
- Verify the Buttplug URL in Butt Saber config matches ToyControl's.
- Click Test toy in ToyControl.
Beat Saber updates broke Butt Saber
This happens. Wait for a Butt Saber update; the mod's GitHub page usually has a working version within a few days of a Beat Saber update.
