Selling your scripts: a practical monetisation guide

Patreon, Subscribestar, custom commissions, eroscripts.com. Where scripters actually make money and what the numbers look like.

If you script funscripts and want to earn money from them, this article covers the practical options in 2026. Numbers are rough estimates based on what scripters publicly share; your mileage varies.

The three main platforms

Patreon

The default. Most scripters use Patreon for recurring monthly income.

Patreon's adult content rules are stricter than they used to be. Scripters who release explicit work alongside their scripts have had account issues. Reading the current rules is essential.

Subscribestar

The alternative. Less restrictive on adult content; smaller audience.

eroscripts.com and one-off sales

The script-specific platform. Lets you release individual scripts for free, pay-what-you-want, or fixed price.

Custom commissions

Some scripters take custom orders: a viewer pays for a script of a specific scene the scripter wouldn't otherwise have made.

Commissions are good for filling gaps between regular releases or testing a new scene type.

A realistic income picture

Numbers that mid-tier scripters report:

YearPatreon subscribersMonthly Patreon incomeCommissions/monthTotal monthly
110-30$50-1500-1$50-250
250-100$250-5001-2$300-700
3100-200$500-10002-4$700-1500

The top decile of scripters reports $2000-5000/month. Achievable but takes years.

Full-time scripting (covering rent, food, all of life) is rare. Most scripters keep day jobs and scripting as a side income.

How to start

A practical step-by-step:

Month 1-3: Release 3-5 free scripts

Month 4-6: Launch a Patreon

Month 7-12: Iterate

Year 2+: Specialise

Common pitfalls

A few things scripters trip on:

Releasing inconsistently

Patreon subscribers expect a release cadence. Saying "weekly" and delivering biweekly is a problem. Setting expectations clearly is more important than the absolute volume.

Pricing too low

$3/tier seems beginner-friendly but the math is bad if you only have 10 subscribers. Most successful scripters land on $5-10 base tier.

Pricing too high

$20/month base tier is hard without a strong reputation. Build the audience first.

Underestimating time

A 10-minute script takes 4-8 hours. A custom commission with revisions can take 10-15. Hourly rates can be lower than expected if you do not track time carefully.

Burnout

Cranking out 4 scripts a month for six months and then stopping is worse than 2/month indefinitely. Sustainable cadence > maximum cadence.

Payment processing for adult creators

This is the practical worst part of scripting as a business:

The simplest path: use Patreon or Subscribestar and let them deal with the payment processor.

Taxes

Quick reality check: scripting income is regular income for tax purposes in most countries. Track it. Pay quarterly estimated taxes if your country requires it. Get a tax professional if you start earning over a few thousand a month.

Patreon issues tax forms. In the US, the 1099-K reporting threshold for tax year 2025 onward is more than $20,000 and more than 200 transactions a year, though a platform may issue one below that. Subscribestar is similar. Report income whether or not you receive a form.

Building a brand

A scripter who is also a brand earns more than an anonymous one. A few things that help:

What is changing

Two trends to watch:

AI-assisted scripting

Auto-generation is getting better. Within two years, expect the median script to start as an AI baseline that gets hand-polished. Scripters who can produce hand-quality output 3x faster by leveraging this will outcompete those who don't.

Live haptic content

Some platforms are experimenting with live-streamed scripts (a performer drives a toy, the motion streams to viewers in real time). Different skill from prerecorded scripting. Worth watching.
