Xbox / XInput controller
Use any XInput-compatible gamepad (Xbox, 8BitDo, Logitech F310) as a haptic output through ToyControl. USB connection, no Bluetooth setup.
ToyControl can drive an XInput-compatible gamepad as a haptic output: the controller's rumble motors play whatever ToyControl sends. This works with Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series controllers, and third-party XInput pads (8BitDo, Logitech F310, others).
What you need
- A recent version of Chrome or Edge (both have supported gamepad rumble for years).
- An XInput-compatible gamepad connected by USB.
- Bluetooth controllers also work if your operating system has them already paired.
Connect the controller
- Plug the controller in by USB cable, or make sure it is already paired with your operating system if Bluetooth.
- Press any button on the controller to wake it.
- Open ToyControl at toycontrol.app in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the + in the Devices section.
- Pick Xbox / XInput controller from the catalog.
- Click Connect.
- The controller appears in the sidebar with a green dot.
Test it
Click Test toy at the bottom. The controller should rumble briefly.
Troubleshooting
- The controller is not detected. Press any button on the controller first; some controllers go to sleep and need a button press before the browser sees them. Re-plug the USB cable if needed.
- No rumble. Check that the controller has working rumble (test it in any game first). Some third-party pads claim XInput but have weak motors.
- Two rumble motors. XInput controllers have a strong left motor and a weak right motor. ToyControl drives both together.
