How to play scripts on a Pico headset

ToyControl works with a Pico, but the path differs from a Meta Quest. HereSphere has no native Pico app, so you run the PC version and stream it to the headset.

ToyControl can drive your toy from VR scenes on a Pico headset, but the setup is different from a Meta Quest. The reason is HereSphere: it has a native app for Meta Quest and a Windows PC version, but no native Pico build. A Pico uses the PC version, streamed to the headset.

How the Pico path works

On a Quest, HereSphere runs on the headset itself. On a Pico, it cannot. Instead:

  1. HereSphere's PC version runs on your computer.
  2. You stream that PC view to the Pico, the same way you would stream any PCVR game.
  3. ToyControl, also on the computer, connects to HereSphere on the computer and drives the toy.

The Pico is acting as a display for a PC running HereSphere, rather than running HereSphere itself. This is the PCVR path; see Connect to VR.

What you need

Setup

  1. Install HereSphere's PC version on your computer.
  2. Set up PCVR streaming from the PC to the Pico, and confirm you can see the PC inside the headset.
  3. Launch HereSphere on the PC. You are now viewing PC HereSphere through the Pico.
  4. In ToyControl, open Connect to VR and connect to HereSphere. Because HereSphere is on the same computer, this is a local connection; use Scan, or the computer's own address.
  5. Load a video in HereSphere and press play. The toy follows.

Honest caveats

If a simple VR setup matters more than the Pico specifically, a Meta Quest is the easier headset for ToyControl. See How to play scripts on Meta Quest.
