First time with a stroker, what to expect
A practical, honest run-through of your first session with an interactive stroker, from unboxing to cleanup.
If you have just bought your first interactive stroker, here is what to expect, with no surprises.
Before it arrives
Plan to charge it fully before the first session. Read the maker's quick-start card; it covers the basics specific to your model.
You will need lube
A stroker needs water-based lube, every session, without exception. The sleeve and the motion both depend on it. Buy a bottle at the same time as the toy so you are not caught short. Avoid silicone lube, which can damage some sleeves.
The first session
Pair the toy with ToyControl first. See How to pair your first toy. Then, rather than diving straight into a tightly scripted scene, start simple: run a gentle pattern, or a script at a low intensity, and get a feel for the motion. A stroker is more intense than people expect. Begin low and turn it up.
Cleaning afterwards
Rinse the sleeve with warm water after each session and let it dry. A well-kept sleeve lasts far longer. See How to clean your interactive sex toy.
A few honest notes
- Noise. Strokers have a motor, and motors are audible. Plan for that in a shared home.
- The learning curve. Lining a script up with a video takes a couple of tries. Patterns need none of that, so they are a gentle way in. See Do I need a script.
- Give it a few goes. The first session is about getting comfortable with the setup. It gets better quickly.
Bottom line
Charge it, get lube, start gentle, clean it after. A Tremblr FM-T or another stroker from The best interactive strokers will reward a calm first session over a rushed one.
