Quest vs Apple Vision Pro for adult content
For interactive toys with ToyControl, the choice between a Quest and a Vision Pro is not close. Here is why.
If you want a headset for adult content with an interactive toy, the choice between a Meta Quest and an Apple Vision Pro is more clear-cut than the price difference suggests.
The two headsets
- Meta Quest: Meta's standalone VR headsets, the Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
- Apple Vision Pro: Apple's premium headset.
The catch for interactive toys
ToyControl runs in a browser and needs a specific browser feature to talk to Bluetooth toys. Apple's Safari, the browser on Vision Pro, does not support that feature. So Vision Pro cannot run ToyControl to drive a Bluetooth toy on its own.
The Quest path works fully: you run ToyControl on a computer, the Quest plays the VR scene in HereSphere, and ToyControl drives the toy in time. The Vision Pro path is a workaround that needs a second computer, covered in Does ToyControl work on Apple Vision Pro.
Pick a Quest
- It works with ToyControl natively.
- It costs far less.
- It has more interactive VR content.
Apple Vision Pro
A superb headset for VR in general, but for interactive toys the path is a workaround rather than a native experience.
Verdict
For interactive content with a toy, a Quest, clearly. The Vision Pro is the better headset in the abstract, but it is the wrong tool for this specific job today. See The best toys to pair with VR porn.
