Using ToyControl in multiple browsers with one account
Sign in with the same email on as many browsers as you want. Each one syncs settings, but Bluetooth pairings stay per-browser.
If you have an email-based ToyControl account, you can sign in on as many browsers as you like. Your settings, library, and subscription follow you. Some things stay per-browser (Bluetooth pairings, folder permissions), and that is fine.
This article covers what to expect.
What syncs across browsers
When you sign in with the same email on different browsers (or different computers), these come along:
- Account info (email, display name, anonymous-to-email upgrade history).
- Subscription status (Pro / Free / trial minutes remaining).
- Per-device settings (multiplier, speed range, suction bias, intensity scale, sync offset per script).
- Selected source view for each device (which tab you last had open).
- Pattern presets and saved patterns (if you saved them).
- Display preferences.
The active source view is the last thing you had visible for each device, so re-opening on a new browser puts you back where you were.
What does not sync
A few things stay per-browser by design:
- Bluetooth pairings. Each browser holds its own pairings. If you pair a Lush in Chrome on your laptop, that pairing does not appear in Chrome on your phone. You re-pair (which is fast).
- Imported scripts. Scripts you imported into your library live in your browser's storage, not in our database. Switching browsers means re-importing or using folder mode.
- Folder mode permissions. A folder you indexed on one computer is on that computer's disk; another browser cannot read it.
- Site preferences and theme. These are stored per-browser by the browser itself.
This is mostly a feature: each computer has its own toy pairings, and the toys themselves are physically with you on that computer.
How to sign in on a new browser
- Open ToyControl in the new browser.
- Enter the email you used to sign up.
- Check your email for a magic-link or 6-digit code.
- Click the link, or paste the code into ToyControl.
You are signed in. Your account state loads.
A common workflow: laptop + phone
Many users:
- Laptop: Primary device. Toy is paired here. Scripts in library.
- Phone: Quick patterns, remote control rooms.
Both sign in with the same email. Settings sync. You pair the toy on whichever device you are using.
If you switch to a partner-driven session (you are the receiver), the toy stays paired on the laptop and the phone joins as a "remote" view in a different room. Both browsers can be active simultaneously.
Two browsers on the same computer
You can also sign in on Chrome and Edge on the same machine, or Chrome and Bluefy on a Mac. They each hold their own Bluetooth pairings. This is useful if:
- You want to test how a Pro feature looks while signed out (use a private window).
- You want one browser for solo sessions and another for partner sessions.
Most users do not need this. One browser is plenty.
Three or more browsers
There is no hard limit. We have seen users with five or six different browsers signed in. The settings sync remains consistent.
A note: a toy can still only be paired with one browser at a time. If you pair the Lush with Chrome on your laptop, you cannot also pair it with Bluefy on your iPhone simultaneously. Disconnect on one before pairing on the other.
Privacy considerations
Each browser keeps its own cookie. Signing in on a friend's computer is fine, but if you do not want them to see your account next time they open ToyControl, sign out before you leave.
If you sign out:
- Settings stay on the server (linked to your email).
- The cookie is removed from that browser.
- You can sign back in anytime.
For maximum privacy on a shared computer, use a private browser window.
What if I forget which browsers I have signed in on
Your subscription and account state are on the server, not on individual browsers. There is no master list of "browsers you are signed in on" to manage. Each browser signs in independently with the email.
If you sign in on a stranger's browser and forget about it:
- Their cookie persists until they clear it.
- You can revoke active sessions in the Account page if we add that feature (planned).
