Saving your settings across devices
Add an email to your account and your settings, library, and subscription follow you to any computer or phone.
When you use ToyControl, your settings save automatically. They save per browser if you are anonymous, or per account if you signed in with an email. To make your settings follow you across computers and phones, add an email.
This article walks through what syncs, what does not, and how to set it up.
Quick setup
- Open ToyControl.
- If you have not added an email, click your name (or "Anonymous") in the sidebar bottom area, or open the Account page.
- Enter your email.
- Check your inbox for a sign-in link or 6-digit code.
- Click the link (or paste the code into ToyControl).
That is it. Your settings are now tied to that email. On any other computer, sign in with the same email and everything comes back.
What syncs
- Per-device hardware settings: multiplier, speed range, suction bias, per-device intensity scale.
- Source state: the script you had loaded, the pattern you were running, sync offsets.
- Subscription status: Pro or Free, trial time remaining.
- Display preferences: which device tab was last active.
What does not sync
- Imported script files. Scripts you imported into your browser library are stored in your browser, not on our servers. They stay where they were imported.
- Folder permissions. If you indexed a folder on one computer, the folder is on that computer's disk; the other computer cannot read it. You re-grant permissions per computer.
- Browser passwords or autofill. Not our concern, that is the browser's job.
How often it syncs
Settings save in the background every half-second when something changes. When you close the tab, ToyControl flushes the last batch in case you change anything just before exit. You do not need to "save" manually.
If you are offline and make changes, they save locally and sync the next time you are online.
Switching computers
When you sign in on a new computer:
- ToyControl loads your account from the server.
- Your settings come back automatically.
- If your library scripts were imported (and not just folder-linked), you will need to import them again on the new computer.
- Pair your toys on the new computer (toys are paired per-browser, not per-account).
The toy pairings are stored by your browser (as a Bluetooth bond), not by ToyControl. This is a system limit, not ours.
Using ToyControl on a phone too
If you have an email account, you can open ToyControl in Chrome on Android (or Bluefy on iPhone) and sign in with the same email. Your settings follow.
You will still need to pair your toy on the phone separately. Once paired, the phone uses your saved settings as the starting point.
Privacy note
Your email is used only as a way to sign in across computers. We do not put it in marketing lists. We do not log it in usage events. We do not see it in the database except where you typed it.
