How to use ToyControl on iPhone or iPad

ToyControl works on iPhone and iPad with a free App Store browser called Bluefy. Here is how to set it up in five minutes.

ToyControl works on iPhone and iPad. You install a free App Store browser called Bluefy instead of using Safari, open ToyControl in it, and pair your toy normally. Setup takes five minutes.

This article walks through it.

Why Safari does not work

iPhones and iPads do not allow Safari to talk to Bluetooth toys from a website. That feature is called Web Bluetooth, and Apple's browser does not include it. Chrome for iPhone, Firefox for iPhone, and every other "browser" you install from the App Store all use Apple's Safari engine underneath, so they have the same limit.

This is an Apple choice, not a ToyControl one. On Mac, Windows, and Android, the default browser supports Bluetooth toys, which is why ToyControl works there without any extra steps.

Use Bluefy instead

Bluefy is a free browser on the App Store that adds the missing Bluetooth feature on iOS. It looks like a simple version of Safari for everything else, but it can connect to nearby Bluetooth toys.

Five-minute setup

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store.
  2. Search for Bluefy and install it. It is free.
  3. Open Bluefy.
  4. In the address bar, type toycontrol.app and go.
  5. Tap the + in the Devices area of the sidebar.
  6. Pick your toy from the catalog.
  7. Confirm in the small Bluetooth window that Bluefy shows.

That is it. Your toy is paired. Scripts play, patterns run, Remote Control rooms work. Bluefy lets you use ToyControl the same way you would in Chrome on a computer.

Bluefy troubleshooting

If something does not work the first time:

Bookmarking ToyControl in Bluefy

Bluefy lets you save ToyControl as a bookmark so you do not have to type the URL each time. In Bluefy:

  1. Open toycontrol.app.
  2. Tap the share icon (a square with an up arrow).
  3. Tap Add Bookmark.

For even faster access, add it to your iPhone home screen:

  1. Open toycontrol.app in Bluefy.
  2. Tap the share icon.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Confirm.

Now ToyControl is a one-tap icon on your iPhone home screen, just like a real app.

What else works on iPhone

Once you are in Bluefy, the full ToyControl experience is available:

Connect to VR and Game Link still require the helper app on a real computer, so those parts are not available on iPhone (they would not make sense there anyway).

What about Apple Vision Pro

Vision Pro does not run Bluefy today and is a separate case. See Does ToyControl work on Apple Vision Pro.

Other options

If you would rather not install Bluefy:

Once you are on one of those, follow How to pair your first toy.
