How auto-match finds the right script
ToyControl auto-loads a script when it has the same filename as your video. Here is how the matching works and how to set up your files.
Auto-match is the time-saver in ToyControl. Once it is set up, you load a video and the right script appears next to it without any clicks. The trick is just the filenames.
The rule
ToyControl matches a video to a script when they have the same base filename. The extension on the end (.mp4, .funscript) is ignored. Spaces, dashes, and capital letters all count.
Examples:
| Video file | Script file | Match? |
|---|---|---|
scene_42.mp4 | scene_42.funscript | Yes |
Scene 42.mkv | Scene 42.funscript | Yes |
scene_42.mp4 | scene_42_v2.funscript | No |
scene_42.MP4 | scene_42.funscript | Yes |
scene_42.mp4 | Scene_42.funscript | No (different capitalisation) |
When you load a video, ToyControl searches your library and any folders you have indexed. If it finds a script with the matching base name, it loads automatically.
Two ways to set up your library
Way 1: Imported scripts. Use Import files in Script Player to bring scripts into your browser library. They live there permanently. When you load a video with a matching name, ToyControl finds the script.
Way 2: Folder mode. Use + Folder in Script Player to point ToyControl at a directory on your computer. ToyControl indexes every script in the folder without copying any files. The scripts stay on disk.
For users with many scripts, the folder mode is the cleanest. Keep your videos and scripts together in one folder, name them consistently, and ToyControl handles the rest.
See How to load a script into ToyControl for the full library setup.
Turning auto-match on or off
Auto-match is on by default. The toggle is in Script Player; turn it off if you want to load scripts manually.
When auto-match does not load anything
A few common reasons:
- The script has a slightly different filename. Rename either the video or the script so they match. Capitalisation must match too.
- The script is in a folder that ToyControl is not indexing. Use + Folder to add it.
- The script was imported but with a different name. Rename in the library.
If you load a video and no script auto-loads, you can always load one manually by clicking it in the library.
Loading on a VR headset
On a VR headset, ToyControl watches HereSphere and pulls the current video's filename. The same matching rule applies. If the script for an SLR scene has the same filename as the scene in HereSphere, it auto-loads.
