DeoVR setup
DeoVR has its own funscript protocol. Here is what works with ToyControl today and what to expect from the integration.
DeoVR is one of the most popular VR video players, used by many SLR Premium subscribers. It supports funscripts directly through its own playback engine. This article covers how DeoVR fits with ToyControl.
The short version: HereSphere is the smoother path for ToyControl users on a VR headset. If you already use DeoVR for everything else, there is a working workflow with ToyControl, just slightly more manual.
How DeoVR handles scripts
DeoVR plays funscripts itself when you load a video that has a matching .funscript file in the same folder. The script drives whichever toy is paired with DeoVR's own integrations (SLR's Lovense, DeoVR's direct Handy support, etc.).
This is different from HereSphere, which broadcasts playback position over your home Wi-Fi so an external app (like ToyControl) can drive the toy. DeoVR keeps the script playback inside its own player.
Path 1: Use DeoVR alongside ToyControl (recommended)
The cleanest workflow:
- Play your VR video in DeoVR on your headset as normal.
- Pair your toy with ToyControl on your computer.
- Load the same script into ToyControl's Script Player.
- Start the video in DeoVR.
- Start the script in ToyControl's Script Player, manually aligned to the video.
You will need to use Set First Cue to align the script. Press C on your computer when the first action happens in the headset. ToyControl shifts the script to match.
See The script and video are not in sync.
This path is more manual than the HereSphere flow but it works with any toy ToyControl supports.
Path 2: Switch to HereSphere
If you have not committed to DeoVR for VR playback, HereSphere is the path of least resistance for ToyControl. HereSphere is a paid app, a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. It runs on VR headsets, and integrates with ToyControl over your home Wi-Fi for automatic playback sync.
See How to play scripts on Meta Quest.
You can have both HereSphere and DeoVR installed on your headset and switch between them.
Path 3: Use DeoVR's own toy integrations
DeoVR has built-in support for a small set of toys (notably The Handy, via Handy's direct API). If you have a Handy, the DeoVR-native path is the easiest, but it bypasses ToyControl entirely.
For any other toy (Tremblr, Lovense, Hismith, KEON), use Path 1 or Path 2.
Common questions
Can ToyControl read DeoVR's playback time directly? Not today. DeoVR does not broadcast playback time the way HereSphere does, so there is no automatic sync path. Path 1 (manual cue) is the workaround.
Will this change? If DeoVR adds a way to share playback time with other apps, ToyControl can integrate. As of 2026 there is no announced timeline.
What about SLR's own app? The SLR app behaves the same way as HereSphere for interactive scenes. For SLR scenes, either the SLR app or HereSphere works.
What is DeoVR Hyper, and does it change anything? Hyper is the 2025 rewrite of DeoVR's player. It is live on the Apple Vision Pro App Store and in Early Access on the Meta Quest Store. On Quest, classic DeoVR is still the version most users have; the ToyControl workflow above applies to both. On Vision Pro, Hyper is now the recommended native VR player, see Does ToyControl work on Apple Vision Pro. As of 2026-05-16, the Vision Pro version of Hyper does not advertise funscript or haptic toy support, so the second-computer workaround is still required.
