DeoVR Hyper, the new VR player reviewed
DeoVR Hyper is the 2025 rewrite of DeoVR's VR player. Here is what the new version means for ToyControl users.
DeoVR Hyper is the 2025 rewrite of the VR player from the company behind the long-running DeoVR app. It arrived in late 2025, and ToyControl users have been asking what it changes. Here is the honest answer.
What DeoVR Hyper is
Hyper is a ground-up successor to classic DeoVR rather than an update to it. DeoVR is positioning it as the new flagship player.
Where it runs
As of early 2026, Hyper is on the Apple Vision Pro App Store as a free download, and in Early Access on the Meta Quest Store. On Quest, classic DeoVR is still the version most people have installed; the two coexist for now.
Funscript and toy support
This is the part that matters for ToyControl. As of mid-2026, the Vision Pro version of Hyper does not advertise funscript or haptic toy support. On its own, Hyper on Vision Pro does not drive a toy. For the full Vision Pro picture, see Does ToyControl work on Apple Vision Pro.
How it sits with ToyControl
ToyControl's recommended VR path is HereSphere, which the Connect to VR source is built around. DeoVR uses a different protocol. For driving a toy from DeoVR specifically, see Using DeoVR with ToyControl. Hyper, as it stands, does not change that recommendation.
Bottom line
DeoVR Hyper is worth watching as it matures, especially if you own a Vision Pro. For now, HereSphere remains the player to use with ToyControl.
