HereSphere vs DeoVR, which VR player for ToyControl
The two main VR players compared, for users driving a toy with ToyControl.
HereSphere and DeoVR are the two VR players most interactive-content users choose between. For ToyControl specifically, one of them is the clearer fit.
The two players
- HereSphere: the player ToyControl's Connect to VR source is built around. A paid app, a one-time purchase of around $30, with no subscription.
- DeoVR: a long-running, popular VR player with a slicker interface, including the newer DeoVR Hyper.
How they differ
HereSphere broadcasts its playback position over your home Wi-Fi, and ToyControl listens to that to drive the toy. The whole VR path in ToyControl is designed around it, so the integration is automatic. DeoVR uses a different protocol for funscripts, so driving a toy from DeoVR through ToyControl is more manual: you align the script yourself with Set First Cue. See Using DeoVR with ToyControl.
Pick HereSphere if
- You want the smoothest, most automatic ToyControl integration.
- You are setting up VR with ToyControl for the first time.
Pick DeoVR if
- You already use DeoVR and prefer its interface.
- You accept a more manual alignment step for the toy.
Verdict
For ToyControl users, HereSphere is the recommended player. DeoVR works, but with more manual effort on the toy side. See HereSphere, the recommended Quest player and DeoVR Hyper, the new VR player reviewed.
